Hong Kong Leasing Team: Meet Laurie

I love working with my residential ‘A Team’ and this month I’m showing off a fellow Hongkonger.  Like me, Laurie has grown up in this crazy place and can tell you everything there is to know about living here – from the obvious finding a Hong Kong property to discovering the secret spots and being in the know about the best places to go for a decent dinner.

So, who is Laurie Lankester?

I’m a seasoned expat, born in HK, growing up between Australia and HK. I have also lived in Singapore, the UK, France and Italy. I speak French and Italian and I have a passion for my job, my family (including my dogs), hiking, and outdoor pursuits. I also appreciate the aesthetic including wonderful views and scenery, and of course good food and wine!

What do you love most about your job?

I love meeting people from all walks of life and I’m a very social person. I’m a passionate Hongkonger and enjoy nothing more than helping newcomers get established here and to see them falling in love with Hong Kong too.

House Heaven Vs House Hell?

7-15 Mount Kellett Road VS Anything looking straight into other buildings (that is not for me!)

Best Hong Kong neighbourhood for Party Animals?

Anywhere in HK – this is a party city after all!

3 activities not to miss out on in Hong Kong…

  1. Definitely hiking – so many trails to choose from!
  2. Take an evening junk trip through the harbour to enjoy the city lights.
  3. A visit to Lamma Island on the local ferry

Favourite local eats in your ‘hood?

Shek O:  Cococabana, beautiful alfresco dining beach-side is absolute heaven!

Central:  DiVino on Wyndham St (great Italian food and excellent wine – get there for happy hour to try their complimentary snacks!) and Cecconis on Elgin St (another great Italian – can you tell I like food from this part of the world?!).

What’s your most unforgettable property search request?

With a budget of up to $1million per month, looking at beautiful free standing houses in the Southside.  The world is your oyster!

How to beat feeling home-sick?

HK is my home so “home-sickness” would be for here when I am away – but luckily when I am away I am normally on holiday so I get the best of both worlds – I know I’m coming back!
