Although I’m still full from all the hearty Christmas feasts and new year’s dinners, yet another one of my favourite gourmet holidays is coming up in just a couple days. In preparation for welcoming the Year of the Rooster, I have done my annual spring cleaning, put up my lucky red door couplets and replaced my Christmas tree with a fresh and fragrant kumquat tree! Finally, my perfect Chinese New Year celebrations cannot be complete without some delicious traditional foodie delights, such as turnip cake (lor bak go), water chestnut cake (maa tai gou) and glutinous rice cake (nian gao).
I’ve picked out my go to places where you can snap some of these treats up to gift your friends and family – along with a generous lai see packet of course!
