Living in Tuen Mun

When it comes to home hunting, Tuen Mun is definitely not the first place that pops into people’s minds. It is hard to get people to even consider living on the dark side, let alone somewhere as far out in the New Territories as Tuen Mun! But as far and foreign as Tuen Mun sounds- there’s actually a lot to do and see in this beautiful coastal neighbourhood.

Transportation

Tuen Mun is serviced by excellent transport links to and from the city. By MTR, it takes 50 minutes from Hong Kong station and 45 minutes from Kowloon Station. By bus, there are over a dozen bus routes running from various parts of the city such as Wan Chai, Central, Mong Kok and Hung Hom that you can choose from.  By car, it is a quick 25 minute drive from Central- a rather beautiful afternoon cruise along the coastline!

Shopping

Shopping malls such as V City, tmtplaza and Gold Coast Piazza offer a large range of  retail shops, from mass market fashion brands such as Zara to upscale grocery store such as Marketplace by Jason. There are also a multitude of cafes and restaurants for everyone’s taste; from casual Vietnamese, Nha Trang to popular seaside alfresco dining such as Killiney.

Schools

Tuen Mun started catching people’s attention (especially parents’) after the opening of Harrow International School in 2013. This prestigious British institution has one of the most beautiful campuses in Hong Kong, overlooking the tremendous marina. The state-of-the-art campus takes students from K1 all the way through to six form, accepting both boarding and day students.

The great outdoors

If you love the outdoors, Tuen Mun is definitely the right neighbourhood for you. Tai Lam Country Park and Tuen Mun Park offer hiking trails, mountain bike trails, artificial lakes, and Reptile parks- something for everyone! Golden Beach and Castle Beach are also fantastic places to visit during the hot summer months for a quick swim or an afternoon tanning session.
